Sharing our love of the water with the next generation.

Encouraging youth to reach new heights.

Who are we?

The idea started in 2019 with Kitesurf Cayman and a group of friends, and then grew to when we officially founded as a non-profit organisation in 2021. We are a dedicated group of experienced watermen and women who volunteer their time to share their skills and knowledge with the next generation of recreational water users.

Volunteer instructors undergo training with Kitesurf Cayman, and have all received Darkness to Light training.

The safety of our students is our top priority.

What do we do?

Primarily we teach Caymanian youth (from age 13 and up) to kitesurf and windsurf free of charge.

However, we are passionate about all things watersports and also facilitate our students participating in other water activities such as snorkeling, paddle boarding, and kayaking - just to name a few!

We also believe in fostering an attitude of care and appreciation for these beautiful islands we call home, weaving environmental stewardship and sustainable recreational access/use principles into our programs.

Where do we teach?

One of our biggest supporters is Kitesurf Cayman. They helped us get started, loan us gear when we fall short, and remain a key partner in all our programs. We teach on the same beach used by the Kitesurf Cayman school, located in Barkers National Park, Grand Cayman.

The warm, shallow waters are perfect for learning and progressing.

We provide students with all the gear necessary to participate in either kitesurfing or windsurfing.

How do we operate?

We are a non-profit organisation registered in the Cayman Islands and are also desinated as a Section 80 company. We are proud that 100% of our proceeds go straight into the programs we run for the benefit of our students.

Directors do not take salaries or compensation of any kind, and all day-to-day administration and instruction is provided by our amazing team of dedicated volunteers.

Most of the funds we raise are directed into purchasing equipment, however some funds are directed to helping us organise events and promotional activities to raise awareness of our great cause and allow us to reach new students and keep teaching. A very small portion of our funds is dedicated annually to administration costs that can’t be covered by volunteers, such as web hosting.

What are some of the benefits?

Our focus is on the students having fun! Simply being outdoors, in beautiful, natural surroundings, enjoying a healthy, active lifestyle, all while learning new and challenging skills.

The benefits of a program like ours are almost endless. Students learn to pay attention to detail, communicate more effectively, use observational skills to assess situations quickly and accurately, and how to effectively employ decision-making to support appropriate reactions and deal with any potential consequences.

Students are fully involved at every step and must take ownership, ask questions, and learn from their mistakes. Self-reliance and confidence in their growing ability are natural by-products of this process.
